Adolfo García Ortega (Valladolid, Spain, 1958) is a editor at El País-Aguilar and as director of Seix Barral; he is currently deputy director of the Editorial Department of Grupo Planeta. He has written the novels Mampaso, Café Hugo, Lobo, El comprador de aniversarios, Autómata, El mapa de la vida, Pasajero K, El evangelista (chosen best historical novel of 2016), Una tumba en el aire, winner of the 2018 Malaga Novel Prize, and in 2021, La luz que cae. His short stories are collected in the volume Verdaderas historias extraordinarias. In 2015, he published his complete poetry collected under the title Animal impuro, to which the volumes Kapital and Milicia were later added. Notable among his essays are Fantasmas del escritor, Abecedario de lector and El del arte de editar libros. He has won various prizes and his works have been translated into various languages.
