‘I clean the offices and bathrooms and lobby five nights a week, but my actual job is to take care of everyone. They need so much help.’

Ella Gordon, Editorial Director, Wildfire:

“God, I love this book. Brandi's writing is razor-sharp, so funny and clever. In the wrong hands this story could have felt a little bleak, set as it is in a corporate office environment in the middle of the night. But instead, Brandi has gifted us a protagonist who sincerely believes in her mission to help her "colleagues", and who is more full of heart and warmth than even she realises. What I admire most of all about Brandi is her ability to capture, with great wit and perceptiveness, a mood that I think many in our current era will relate to – the erroneous belief that the capitalist system is a meritocracy, and if we just work hard enough all our dreams will come true. She renders on the page so beautifully that exhaustion: the despair of putting everything you have into a machine that gives little in return.”

Rebecca Folland, Group Rights Director, Hachette UK:

“Wow, I just loved this, the ideal companion for a long train journey as I'd have been very annoyed if someone had tried to drag me away from it. This is such a funny, precise, knowing and incredibly moving read and anyone working in an office will find themselves feeling somehow 'seen' I'm sure!”

Fern McCauley, Head of Media Development, Hachette UK:

“I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this. Hilarious, painfully insightful, and unexpectedly moving.”
