在南非出生、伦敦长大的研究生 Kiare Ladner凭著她将要推出的处女作成为了英国文学界的新星。

Kiare在获得HW Fisher颁发给低收入作家的全数奖学金後，於课期中写的短篇小说获奖无数，最近更被Picador 的出版者 Ravi Mirchandani 发掘了她的才能。Ravi 一向有著挑选新进小说家的慧眼，这次独家签下了Kiare的第一本小说 《夜更》，更誇说她的书稿不用太大的修改。

身为一个长大於伦敦的外地人，作者借《夜更》探讨了一个社会问题：在几百万的城市人口里，你可以享有无名的自由，相对的也可以在一夜之间死了却无人知晓。

《夜更》的故事以女主角Meggie的角度出发。23岁的她从遇到Renée的第一天就迷恋上她的神秘感，更特别要求调到夜班时间，得以跟Renée一同熬夜工作。

在伦敦的黑夜中，Meggie跟Renée的关係超越了一般女生的友情，但又从不是恋人。在持续夜间睡眠不足与酒精的影响下，Meggie眼中的伦敦跟Renée都像迷雾一般。到底是伦敦这个烦嚣的大城市令人感觉虚无，还是Meggie在痴迷别人的过程中迷失了自己呢？
 
关於作者：
Kiare Ladner 是在南非出生的英国作家。她正在 Curtis Brown Creative 以奖学金修读小说写作，并被Picador签下了她的处女作 Nightshift。她的短篇故事曾经被Wasafiri、 Lightship Anthology 1 、 New Contrast 和 Eclectica多本文学杂誌发表。
