《我们和她們》关于一位年老的女士Bibi以及她的两个女儿：住在巴黎的Lili以及住在美国加州的Goli。Bibi的家人是伊朗人散居的定义：她们极力反对她们离开的政权，决心在其他国家创造自己的新生活。Lili 和Goli多年来一直恳求母亲跟她们一起住，而在故事的开始，Bibi终于答应离开伊朗前往美国参加一场家庭聚会。其实，Bibi内心希望的是她的第三个孩子，她唯一的儿子，会出现，因为他自从加入伊朗军队以后就被推定死亡了。Bibi多年来一直认为这不是事实，而在儿子出现之前，她不肯动任何财产，等着儿子回来的那一天再决定如何处理。Lili和Goli两姐妹对于母亲应该如何过她最后的日子以及应该如何管理她的财产有非常不一样的想法，她们之间也存在多年的冲突。她们开始“分享”她们的母亲——将她从巴黎以及加州来回接送。此时，她们渐渐开始怀疑母亲的财产到底是从哪里来，而最后只有她们在伊朗的同父异母妹妹以及Bibi最融入西方文化的孙女两人有足够勇气面对这个答案。而只有Bibi本人愿意接受过去所发生的事情，真相才大白。
