Cécile David Weill is a French and American citizen. She currently lives in New York, where she was born, after travelling all over the world, in Paris, Singapour and Hong Kong, Moscow and Barcelona. Very much passionate about literature, she worked in different publishing companies like the prestigious Editions Gallimard, before taking over Editorial directorship of Editions Balland and setting up her own publishing company, les Editions Cavatines. Very interested in Asian culture, she seized the opportunity of living in Singapore and Hong Kong to improve her knowledge in this area, and promote Asian art. In between, she wrote 3 novels. She is divorced, and has 3 children. She is a regular contributor to the online French magazine LePoint.fr, and currently writes a twice weekly column about living in New York.
She has published three books. Her first novel titled BEGUIN, was published in 1996 by Grasset in France (under the name of Cecile de la Baume) and they sold 20,000 copies in hardcover and 48,000 copies in paperback. BEGUIN was released in English translation as CRUSH and was published by Grove in 1997. Grove sold 8,000 copies in hardcover.
Her second novel is titled FEMME DE, and Grasset published in France in 2002 selling 7,000 copies in hardcover and it was not translated into English.
