LOTTE STEGEMAN writes children’s non-fiction about animals. Her previous books include The Unicorn and Other Fantastic Animals That Used to Exist, Backyard Beasts and Green Feet. She has been translated into many languages. For Us Bears, Lotte traveled through Alaska, among other places, where she camped with brown bears to study them from up close. 

MARIEKE TEN BERGE is a freelance illustrator and designer. She is fascinated by nature in the Arctic and made a book about it, North, which won the Silver Paintbrush Award and was nominated for the Jan Wolkers Award and the 2021 Most Beautiful Book Cover Award. Previously, she also illustrated Polder, a book full of birds and other animals.
