Heiko Focken, born in 1970, grew up near Hamburg, where he experienced the fall of the Berlin Wall as a schoolboy. In 1991, he moved to Saxony to study, where he later worked in the transportation sector. In 2003, he moved to Baden-Württemberg and has since worked as a planner for the local public transport company. This fits well with his passion for railways.
