The guide reveals the great tradition of Barcelona and the cinema through a historical journey, from 1920s up to present day, that combines historical and scientific rigor with a clear orientation to the tourism use. For more than 50 years, Barcelona has lived large international shootings, requesting the presence of John Wayne, Orson Welles, Ava Gardner, Michelangelo Antonioni and, more recently, actors such as Robert de Niro, Ewan McGregor and Julianne Moore. Today, the three landmarks of films showcasing the Catalan capital are All About My Mother (directed by Pedro Almodovar), The Perfume and Vicky Cristina Barcelona, directed by Woody Allen, featuring Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Scarlett Johansson.
The book offers different levels of content: 15 maps, 115 photographs and sections that focus on films and film genres. Its 15 chapters provide key information to the major films shots in the city and itineraries with complementary interactive maps (via QR codes that the reader can scan with a smartphone and thus open them exclusively on Google Maps). >> The author
Eugeni Osácar (Barcelona, 1963) is a marketing and cultural heritage tourism expert. He teaches at the Tourism’s School (CETT) of the University of Barcelona, where he also runs the Master in Tourism Management Innovation. Osácar has overseen several projects concerning tourism, notably the first initiative in the Catalan city to propose cultural tourism based on film (“Barcelona Movie”, 2008). He has published several tourism guides on Barcelona, Paris, London, Rome and Venice for smartphones and tablets. Osácar is so committed with Barcelona, a city of film that he’s very willing to update the content to the different publishing markets.
