關於作者:
William Hartston是一位英國劍橋大學畢業的數學家以及工業心理學家。他曾是一位專業西洋棋競賽者,在1973年及1975年獲得英國西洋棋冠軍賽。他主辦了一個Mind Sports Olympiad(大腦運動奧運賽),提The Daily Express撰寫專欄以及擔任他們的歌劇樂評。他寫過許多關於西洋棋、數字、幽默、學術研究以及瑣碎知識的書。
