Lucía Serrano was born in 1983 in Madrid. From a young age, she decided that when she grew up she would be a "storyteller," but one who tells stories as much with words as with images. So, when she turned eighteen, she began studying Fine Arts and, after finishing her degree, moved to Barcelona, where she still lives today. During this time, she has learned from great masters of illustration, has published many stories, and has received several awards: the Cuatrogatos Foundation Award in 2016, for Carlota's Bath ; the Junceda Award in 2012, for En blanco ; the 13th A la Orilla del Viento Award in 2009, from the Fondo de Cultura Económica, for ¡Qué niño más lento!; and the Princesa de Éboli Award in 2008, convened by Anaya, for El día que olvidé cerrar el grifo .
